PARISH OF STANTON BY DALE MAIN STREET SK 43 NE 6/95 (South Side) Stanton Hall II Small country house, now a nursing home. Mid-C18, sympathetically enlarged in mid-C19. Red brick with stone dressings. Hipped Welsh slate roofs partly hidden behind parapets. Various brick ridge stacks. Two and three storeys. North elevation of three bays. Large mid-C19 lean-to conservatory on the ground floor. Three plain C19 sashes above, under C18 channelled wedge stone lintels. Three similar windows above again. Plain second floor band, angle pilasters, moulded cornice and parapet. East elevation of ten bays in three parts, the right and left hand parts have castellated parapets. Moulded stringcourses. Right hand three bays have a plain sash to each floor under wedge stone lintels, then a square bay with two French windows to the ground floor and two plain sashes above, all with wedge stone lintels. Three bays to the left are of three storeys and have rusticated pilasters. The ground floor has a projecting bay with French windows. Three plain sashes above, and above again, all with plain stone lintels. Four bays to left have similar windows. The south elevation has a tall round-arched staircase window. The interior was remodelled in the mid-C19. Entrance hall with built in organ and a staircase of c1880 incorporating the organ pipes. Several mid-late C19 chimneypieces. Listing NGR: SK4645637835
