Description

Cottage. Mid C18 and C20 exterior fabric, but with internal timber structure dated by dendrochronological sampling to 1415, 1446 and 1520 in 1992. Painted brick, with thatch and pantile roof coverings. Single storey and attics. West elevation has a three-light C20 casement to the right, and a doorway to the left. C20 dormer windows above. East elevation with C20 3-light and 4-light casements to the ground floor, with two C20 dormers above. Interior, cruck framed, with side and ridge purlins, and a yoke to the central truss. Substantially altered, but significant because of date range identified by dendrochronological sampling. Brick and pantile extension to right not of special interest. PARISH OF STANLEY STATION ROAD SK 44 SW 2/93 (East Side) The Thatched Cottage II Cottage. Mid-C18 and C20. Painted brick, with thatched and pantile roof. Painted brick gable stacks. Single storey plus attics. West elevation has a 3-light C20 casement to right and a doorway to left. C20 dormer window above. The east elevation has to the ground floor C20 3-light and 4-light casements and two C20 dormers above. Brick and pantile extension to right, not of listable quality. The interior has one cruck truss. The cottage is reputed to date from 1767. Listed for group value only. Listing NGR: SK4192640452
