Full Description

Gibfield Lodge is a Grade II early/mid 19th century former lodge. It is a single-story building constructed from ashlar with a hipped slate roof, wide eaves and large stone chimneys. Two windows face the road and one faces the drive. The north quadrant wall, with end pier, is attached to north-east corner of lodge. (1) The building is not shown on Sanderson's map of 1835, nor is it on the Tithe Map of 1844. (2, 3) The building had clearly been built by c. 1880 as it is shown as 'Lodge' standing at the entrance to a tree-lined carriage-way leading north-west on a late 19th century OS map. (4)
