Full Description

The Primitive Methodists have a place of worship in Ashley Hay. It is situated at Bacon Hill, and will seat about 100 hearers. The site and the stone for the building was given by Mr W Pidcock. (1) There is a Primitive Methodist Chapel situated here on the 1st edition OS map. (2) A non-conformist chapel dating to 1851. It is built of regularly coursed gritstone blocks, with a hipped plain tile roof. It is of a single storey, having a central doorway with plain stone jambs, lintel and keystone and a panelled door. Flanking the doorway are segmental-headed windows with central opening lights. There is a plaque over the doorway inscribed 'Primitive Methodist Chapel. 1851. This ground and stone given by William Pidock'. (3) It is no longer in use as a place of worship [2011]. (4)
