Building record MDR13122 - Wildersley Farmhouse, Holbrook Road, Belper

A thatched manor-type farm house, with beamed interiors. It possibly dates to the 18th century, though it could be earlier. It is currently derelict [1970], but could be restored. A later comment on the County Treasure form suggests a possible date of the late 17th century. (1) A grade II listed farmhouse dating to the 16th-early 17th century. It is built of coursed sandstone rubble with a plinth. It has coped gable ends with kneelers, and a thatched roof (now damaged). There are end and off centre chimneys. The southern or ruin facade has two projecting gabled bays of two and a half storeys each; the western one has a porch. Generally three windows with splayed stone mullions, architraves and dripstone moulds. The door has quoins and a large stone lintel. The western end elevation has one similar window on each floor. Part of the roof, attic and eastern projecting bay are now badly damaged [1974]. (2)
