A grade II listed terrace of industrial housing dating to the late 18th-early 19th century. It is a red brick terrace with a slate roof stepped down the hillside in pairs. It is of two storeys. Each house has two windows, which are sashes with late 19th century glazing; except No 60, which has modern glazing, and the sashes of Nos 61 and 62 are unbarred. There are 3 ft high coursed stone garden walls adjoining each house with pitched stone coping. (1) Long Row contains perhaps the most impressive example of industrial housing built in the town by Jedediah Strutt. The stone houses on the north side date from 1792-3 [see SMR 28783 and SMR 28784], and the brick-built ones on the south side from the early 19th century [also see SMR 28785]. (2) Long Row is industrial housing of a high quality. There were originally 77 houses in the Long Row [also see SMR 28783-28790]. It was built in the form of three terraces, two of which were continuous until broken by the North Midland Railway in 1840. The southern two-storey terrace is constructed primarily in brick and ascends the rising groud in stepped pairs. Each house has its own garden with allotments behind. There are now 62 dwellings in all. (3) Plans were made in 1891 showing a proposed extension out the back of a property on Long Row. They were submitted as supporting documentation for a planning application back in 2010, to knock two of the cottages in to one at Nos. 58-9. Presumably the plans related to these houses, but not necessarily; many of the southern row had extensions in a similar fashion built at some point. (4)
