Full Description
A tiny Grade II listed, single storey stone Jacobean style lodge, possibly circa 1845-50, by architect Giles Scott, located at the north end of the Babington Hospital complex [SMR17059] which was designed as a workhouse for the Belper Union. The lodge is similar to the building range of the eastern courtyard that may have been built c. 1838, however, they are not on the Belper Tithe Map (1844), so perhaps were built c. 1845-50. It has a slate roof and coped gables. The eastern facade to the road has a three-light leaded window with mullions. There is a door to the drive and a stone chimney. (1)
