Building record MDR16079 - Herbert Strutt Public Baths and attached Caretaker's House, Gibfield Lane, Belper

A Grade II listed Baths and attached Caretakers House, dated 1910 and by patron G H Strutt, forming an interesting L-shaped asymmetrical composition and built of rusticated stone. The Baths stand back from the street front and the main part of the building has a large Venetian window with stone mullions in the gable end. A single storey section along the front has a capped end pier and a row of 5 single light windows. There is an advanced, round-arched doorway with rusticated treatment and a plaque above with the legend 'Herbert Strutt 1910 Baths', with a further window on the other side of this door. The attached two-storey house has a segmental pediment. There are two windows including a square stone ground-floor bay-window with a three-light casement window above, and a round window above the door. The windows have generally leaded glazing. (1)
