Building record MDR16130 - Greenbank Cottage, Holt Lane, Lea, Matlock

A Grade II listed house, formerly a house and cottage, dated to the late 18th century and remodelled in the 19th century. Built of a coursed rubble gritstone, with quoins to the end, a moulded eaves cornice, end and intermediate ashlar chimney-stacks and a concrete tiled roof, the house has two storeys and three bays, with sash windows set into the masonry without surrounds. There are two doorways, one to north west end with substantial jambs, a shallow bracketed hood and a 20th century six panelled door. The doorway to south-east end is with massive surround and lintel, and a four-panelled stable door. There are single-storey pitched roofed extensions to the rear, with some 18th century surrounds to the openings. (1)
