Full Description
St John the Baptist's Church, Chelmorton, was probably rebuilt in the latter half of the 13th century and incorporates fragments of Norman work. The tower and chancel are mainly 15th century. (1).

Grade II* listed church. 13th and 14th century, restored 1869 by H Currey. Coursed, squared gritstone to chancel and tower. Coursed limestone with gritstone dressings to rest. The interior contains various memorials and plaques. [See Listed building reference DDR]. (4). See also SMR 3812. (5)
The spire is topped by a weather vane in the form a grasshopper. (7)
