Full Description

Dimensions: H. 0.6m An almost destroyed round barrow some 360m (400yd) from SMR 2464. It was excavated by Bateman on 06-MAY-1844, producing a few human and animal bones. (1) SK 2456. Described by Bateman as follows: 'About four hundred yards from the preceeding [assumed to be SMR 2464], there is a small portion of another barrow, also named Moot Lowe, which was long since almost razed to the ground'. (3) A few human and animals bones were found. The human bones were of two individuals. The only known site close to SMR 2464 is SMR 3420, which may be the site referred to by Bateman. However it is nearly twice the distance away and, although ploughed down, the present remains do not tally with his description of it being almost razed to the ground. This site may therefore now be completely lost/destroyed. (6)
