Full Description

In 714 AD the Abbey of Repton sent a lead coffin for the burial of St. Guthlac, Prior of Croyland. Again in 835 AD, lead from Wirksworth was given for the roof of Christ's Church, Canterbury. This suggests Anglo-Danish lead mining in the Wirksworth area. (1)
