Full Description
Numerous flints have been found scattered on Beeley Moor. Mr L B Cooper of Chesterfield has 16 barbed and tanged arrowheads, 3 petit tranchet derivatives, many scrapers and waste flakes, most of which are from the Beeley Moor area. Mr C Gregory has over 20 varied leaf-shaped arrowheads, 17 petit tranchet derivative's and 12 barbed and tanged arrowheads from a wider area that extends north to the Baslow area. Gregory has over 20 microliths, Professor Bray 7, and Cooper 4. Cooper also has an upper Palaeolithic, large battered-back blade, which is virtually a Creswellian form. None of the tools were found with assemblages. (1)
None of the finders was visited as enquiries indicated that, while they have retained their finds, they would be unable to give any individual sitings. (2)
Thirty flint implements, mostly scrapers and arrowheads, found on Beeley Moor by Mr L B Cooper, are in Derby Museum, L184-64. (3)
