Full Description

The monks of Darley Abbey had a grange at Wessington with a chapel attached to it. According to Bulmer an old house near the post office was said to be part of the monastic buildings but, if such was the case, by 1895 it had lost all external evidence of its original purpose. (1) Wessington is listed as one of the granges of the Augustinian Abbey at Darley. However, there are no visual earthwork remains, either of the enclosure or of medieval buildings. (3)
