SK 32575491 Toll Bar Cottage. (1) Single storey stone cottage tollhouse, built by Nottingham and Newhaven Trust (Ashbourne Branch). It has been extended to the rear. (2) Toll House, Longway Bank on the B5035. 19th century front, inside partly 17th century. Much altered. (3) Toll Bar Cottage is a grade II listed, early 19th century Toll house built from regularly coursed gritstone rubble, rising from a plain shallow plinth with coped gables, a central ashlar stack and plain club tiles with a slate eaves course. It is a single storey building of two bays with a doorway at the west end, having a plain planked door below a shallow bracketed hood. The toll house was formerly associated with the Nottingham to Newhaven turnpike trust, created by Act of Parliament in 1758. (4)
