Full Description

A bronze celt, found at Bullbridge, Derbyshire, is listed by Sheppard. It has 'flat wings, which extend in a plane to 1/2" bevelled cutting edge. Traces of ridge connecting deep stop ridges. Medial ridge in hollow along blade; cutting edge has points broken. Top hammered flat. Corroded 6 in by 2 1/2 in by 1 in. 14 3/4 ozs. Hull Mus. Accession No 19. (1) The records of Hull Mus. were destroyed during the war and Mr. Sheppard's note is the only information the Mus. has. Sheppard purchased implements wherever he could find them. The palstave is unlooped and closely resembles Fig. 16 (3) p.40 of the Old BM BA guide. This type is normally ascribed to the MBA. (2) No further inf. was gained in field, investigation. (3)
