Full Description

Roman lead pig found in 1787 on Matlock Moor, that is somewhat north of Matlock Bank, not very far (apparently) from one found in 1783 near Matlock Bank [SK 26 SE 8]. Now apparently lost. Inscribed TI. CL. TR. LVT. BR. EX. ARG. (1) It measured 17.5ins by 3ins at the top and 20ins by 6.5ins at the bottom, was 4.75ins thick and weighed 173lbs. (1-2) Additional source. (3)
