Full Description

[Marginal] Bronze celt found at Blakelowe, near Ashover, in 1787. (1) Bronze palstave, or half-socketed celt, 6" long, from Ashover. In Sheffield Museum J.93-486. From White Watson's collection, later included in Bateman's Collection of Antiquities on show at Lomberdale House, near Youlgreave, until 1876, then on loan to, and later acquired by, the Museum. (2) A Bronze Age bronze haft-flanged axe, with incipient stop-ridge, found at Blakelow. (3) Additional source. (4)
