Full Description

Stone mortar, 11 3/4 in. high, 8 1/2 in. across the mouth of the bowl, from Scarcliffe. No. 6 of the collection of local examples of querns, mortars and stone weights at the Nottingham Castle Museum. (1) Nottingham Castle Museum have no knowledge of this mortar. The keeper stated that the collection referred to by Authority 1 was dismantled "many years ago"; he has, however, promised to instigate enquiries regarding the find. (2)
