Full Description
SK 4460 Tibshelf, Site of Coal Pit. 14th century evidence of a coal pit in this vicinity. It is mentioned in an assize of 1330. There is some corroborating field name evidence, as well as indirectly in 'Pit lane'. (But is this Saw Pit Lane ?) (1)
