Full Description

Tapton Grove is a grade II* listed building dated c. 1800, two storeys high, constructed of rough pecked ashlar with eaves cornice and a stone slate roof. The rear of the house is said to be older. There is a centre, 6 panelled door with fielded garrets, radial fanlight and Doric columns. It has a very good interior, including rooms with panelling, fireplaces, and moulded plaster ceilings in both 17th and 18th century styles. The entrance hall has an arch and fluted ceiling panel. There is a good, panelled staircase with fluted end columns and cast iron balusters, alternately plain and moulded. An oval dome with glazed band lights the staircase. (1)
