Full Description

(Area centred SK 4374). There is a reference of about 1300 to a chaplain who 'held the hospital for the town of Staveley' (1). The hospital was of the lesser class valued under £50, and was dissolved prior to 1500 (2a). (1-2) Additional source. (3) The site of the hospital is unknown. However, there are documentary references in 1565 and 1573 to a 'Spital Flat' at Staveley (4)
