Type and Period (1)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

Merovingian tremissis of Quentovic found in Derbyshire together with gold and garnet jewellery in a grave. This was destroyed during railway building. The coin was sold to the British Museum, electrotype in Derby Museum. The site from which they came may be the urn field found at Kings Newton, but this does seem to be 6th rather than 7th century in date.
