Description
1848 (White's Directory of 1857). Built by Strutts. One of the earliest police stations in the country. Ashlar with quoins, wide eaves and hipped slates. Off centre chimneys linked by arch over ridge. Two storeys. Three windows (northern bay recessed). Stone doorcase with quoins. Rear cell wing remains. In a prominent position opposite the Strutt Mills.
