Building record MDR16376 - 1-28, Hopping Hill, Milford

Grade II listed early industrial housing, built by Strutts between 1792 and 1797. These are coursed stone cottages, terraced and stepped up the hillside, with slate roofs and brick chimneys. Nos 1 to 6 (consecutive) have two storeys and small fabled attic dormers, the rest are of three storeys. Each storey has a window each, with sash-windows to the ground floor, the rest are casements including Strutt designed and forged nine-paned iron windows on the top floor, four panes of which form a casement window, the same as those at Nos. 31-52 [SMR28872]. The doors and first floor windows have voussoirs and there is some modem glazing, generally in the same window-spaces. There are low coped street boundary walls and steps to the front doors. (1)
