Full Description
A long coursed stone terrace with slate roof and brick chimneys, built between 1792 and 1797 by the Strutts family to house workers in their cotton mills. The facade of No. 37 is now rendered. The cottages have three storeys with one window to each, with either sash windows or casements. The top floors have small iron framed Strutt designed windows as at Nos 1 to 28 [SMR 28873]. There is some modern glazing in some window spaces. The first floor windows and doors have voussoirs. There are coursed stone coped garden walls to the street, ramped up between each garden, and stone steps up to the front doors. (1)
